Elizabeth. M. Latham, born in Sydney Australia in 1954. Given her first name, Elizabeth, by her mother in respect of Queen Elizabeth II, during her Majesty’s first Australian tour in 1954. Elizabeth was educated in Private Roman Catholic schools. At age 16-plus, she began her nursing career in 1971. She completed the old hospital-based nursing degree for State Registered nurses in 1974 and was employed as an operating room nurse for 25 years. She obtained her second certificate Diploma in OR Management and Technique at the St. Vincent’s Hospital Darlinghurst in 1984. She worked as an Operating Room Theatre Suite Manager and became Clinical Nurse specialist in OR emergency Trauma surgery at The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney for 10 years. She transferred to Critical Care Nursing or Intensive Care in 1996 until she retired in 2007 due to a workplace injury. Elizabeth became a TM and TM & Siddhi’s program as a meditator in 1986 to ‘87 current.
She attended first- and second-degree Reiki courses in 1990 and was initiated as a Reiki Master in 1991 under Klaudia Hochhuth and again by Phyllis L. Furumoto in 1992. She was a Member of the Reiki Alliance, 1991-1998, and facilitated Australian Pacific Reiki gathering in 1993 for Phyllis L . Furumoto, among others. She taught Usui Reiki to 40 female inmates in the Mulawa women’s correctional facility 1992-1996. Elizabeth traveled to India on three occasions, 1988-1989 and 1990. There, she had the pleasure of meeting with Mother Teresa in Calcutta in 1990, among other great saints. She studied Ayer-Vedic Medicine and the ancient Sanskrit language of the Gods.
Elizabeth traveled to Japan in 1993 and again in 1994 to research Dr. Mikao Usui, the then mythical founder of ‘Usui Reiki Ryoho’. Then she began writing this book, The Reiki Samurai from 1993 until 2023. There are a further two books in progress. Firstly, Reiki in the Twilight Zone, a critique of other Reiki history writers’ works. Secondly, Reiki with Chujiro Hayashi and Hawayo Takata presenting the actual story of Mr. Captain Chujiro Hayashi and his life and relationship with Mrs. Hawayo Takata.
