Sue Malcolm

Reiki Master Practitioner & Teacher, Animal Reiki Master Practitioner & Teacher, UK Reiki Federation Member

Sue Malcolm co-authored the publication Understanding Animals: A Working Guide for Reiki Practitioners, and delivers accredited training for both Reiki and Animal Reiki.

Sue has voluntarily offered Reiki to a large number of animals in various rescue settings over many years. Whilst seeing wonderful results and learning what these animals wished to teach her, Sue also sat on the management committee of the UK Reiki Federation for nine years as their Animal Reiki Co-ordinator, leading their Animal Reiki Agenda. Additionally, Sue set up and led an Animal Reiki sub-group for the Reiki Council for six years. Through this work, National Occupational standards were created for Animal Reiki training and criteria were agreed within all of the Reiki Council organisations for (i) the professional recognition of Animal Reiki Practitioners, (ii) professional recognition/ accreditation of Animal Reiki Practitioner training courses and (iii) professional recognition of Animal Reiki Master teachers.

Sue strongly views Animal Reiki as a therapy in its own right, not simply an ‘add on’ to human Reiki. She regularly hears from her students “I didn’t realise there was so much to Animal Reiki – it isn’t just taking Reiki and offering it to animals. We really need to understand Animals too”.
